Phoenix Sports & Leisure Group (PSL) a division of Imkemex kicked off the Junior Football Champions - the first professional league for children 5-12 years at the Western Railway Ground in Mumbai.Twenty four teams including three NGO teams of "PIFA Foundation for the benefit of sports" participated in this 10 week league to be played every Saturday morning.
Two hundred children competed in 4 age groups League 1 had 5-6 year old's, League 2 had 7 to 8 year old's, League 3 had 9 to 10 year old's and League 4 had 11 to 12 year old's. The league had a mix of celebrity kids as well as under privileged children.
Apart from playing once a week the children will also be trained by Premier India Football Academy (PIFA) once a week at any of the centers closest to the participants.
Each team was kitted with an Adidas t-shirt & short's.
